A few words about the piece by the artist:
We Must Avenge the People (ta phai tra thu cho nhan dan) is drawn to mimic the wood-printing look and features three ladies expressing their despair at the funeral for Palestinians. In southern Vietnamese funeral practices and some Sino-influenced regions of Asia, there is a cultural practice in which criers are rented to perform hysterical crying during the funeral ceremony throughout the day, especially during the collective incense offering. The belief is that excessive mourning is what the dead deserve, the more expressively mournful it is, the world will know how the dead is valued by their families. The facial expressions are horror-filled because I don't know how to really express the monstrosity that I feel and witness in the genocide.
