Cancer Treatments

and a Future for Her

Daughters

MADLIN is a Palestinian single mother of two young children, who has been battling lymphoma (a cancer of the body's germ-fighting and disease-fighting immune system) for the last three years. Since the attacks and invasion of Gaza by the Zionist entity, their home and their city has been destroyed. Miraculously surviving the demolishment of their house, Madlin and her two young daughters, Maryam (7) and Diamond (4), are displaced to the sandy tents in Nuseirat. At night, she was allowed to sleep in front of a kind stranger’s driveway and returning to the hot sand during the day. With each passing day with no cease fire in sight, the sick mother’s health has worsen: with chemotherapy unavailable in bombarded Gaza, her tumors metastasized and partial paralyzed her left arm, making her bedridden with uncontrollable weight gain. Madlin's only chance of survival and securing a future for her children is crossing the border into Egypt.

We are raising $22,000 to secure a safe passage for Madlin and her two children to Egypt, where she could access medical treatment and possibilities for a new life.

Please contribute to get Madlin some rest.

All donations will be transferred over to Madlin's GFM account.

Madlin’s Story

I was afraid to die for my daughters. I didn’t want to leave them alone with anyone. I am very afraid that I will die and leave them without a breadwinner or a home.
How will they be able to meet their needs, eat and drink, and where will they live?
.
My children are crying around me all day, as I keep telling them to get used to my promised absence
— Madlin from Gaza

Hello,
I am Madeleine from Gaza. I used to live a wonderful life with my two beautiful daughters, Maryam, who is seven years old, and Massa, who is four years old.

But as fate would have it, three years ago, the dreaded cancer came upon me and changed my entire life, so my life became in hospitals. I suffered a lot of disease. I gained a lot of weight until I became nearly 120 kilograms due to the inflation that resulted from the enlargement of the blood vessels in my body. I could barely move from my suffering. I undergo chemotherapy sessions every two weeks. It makes me bedridden because these doses burn and exhaust the body.

However, the dreaded October 7th came, and I became homeless because my house was demolished. My two daughters and I miraculously survived and returned to suffering from the disease because I no longer took my chemotherapy doses. I have not been able to obtain approval to continue my treatment journey. My condition is getting worse day after day because this damned disease is controlling my body and destroying it.

Here I am now living without a shelter. I can barely provide for some of our needs. I light fires so I can cook, and this made my condition worse because it damaged my respiratory system. I went to the hospital and constantly needed fumigants so I could breathe well.

Please help me to get out to save my life and the lives of my children from death, destruction, and pollution. Please help me.

Intentions

By May 2024, Israel had expanded its military operation to Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, an area where the vast majority of displaced Palestinians had been told to evacuate. Most Palestinians sheltering there, including those registered and paid to leave Gaza via the Rafah crossing, had to flee to Central Gaza. For most Gazans, freedom of movement has to be paid in steep prices. Prior to the onset of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Palestinians paid $350 to exit Gaza via the Rafah crossing into Egypt. Prior to May, Palestinians are charged $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child. Since May, the Rafah crossing has been blocked and destroyed by the occupation, leading to increased fees. The price for exiting at the Rafah crossing has surpassed the average annual salary in Gaza, but many Gazans are determined to raise money to prepare for the crossing’s reopening.

Madlin’s condition is worsening every day. As of June 27th, her left arm is partially paralyzed, making it more urgent than ever for Madeleine to get the necessary medical treatment. Madeleine needs $22,000 to secure a safe passage for herself and her two daughters through HALA — an Egyptian consulting and tourism company — which has a monopoly on providing transfer services at the Rafah crossing.

Our campaign seeks to bring attention to Madlin’s story and fundraise for the women and girls-only family. All financial contributions secured via this website will be transferred directly to Madlin’s GoFundMe page.

Launched on July 4, 2024, Rest For Madlin campaign is led by Ly Nguyễn, Phuc To, and a network of supporters including Viet artists and organizers for Palestine. RFM is an ongoing initiative aimed at aiding the survival and evacuation of Madlin’s family. This urgent response addresses the life-threatening crisis faced by countless Palestinians, especially the disabled, sick, and single mothers with young children without a support system or a breadwinner in the family. Since October 2023, Madlin and her daughter has survived their house falling onto them under bombardment, displacement, tent life, and Madlin’s paralyzing cancer. Now, living in a makeshift tent on the hot sand of Nuiserat during the day and sleeping on a stranger’s driveway at night, they reached out to us to help them evacuate to Cairo, Egypt. Our goal is to raise $22,000 urgently to cover evacuation ($5,000 per adult, $2,500 per child) and treatment costs. Please stand with us in supporting their journey by sharing and donating to the campaign.
